Gateway to Apshai
J2003C says: The looks are deceptive here. Completing each dungeon takes skill, patience, experience and knowlege about the monsters. Quite addictive!
|
Repton III
Neo-Rio says: A classic series on the BBC micro, the C64 only got to see the last and greatest in the series. Complete with construction kit!
|
Dark Star
Jimbo says: I don't know why I like this game, I just do. It has crap music and graphics, but if you're bored for a few minutes, give it a try!
|
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
Neo-Rio says: If you're too young to remember He-Man, then you missed out on cartoons, plastic toys, a feature film... and this game. It's not a good game by a long stretch, but the Ben Daglish soundtrack gives me some nostalgia.

Spy School
graveyardjohn says: 4 different games in one, but pay attention 007, and do try and remember where the walls are before they turn invisible!
|
Tau Ceti
J2003C says: Although not a great flight sim, it has enough unique features, like night vision, to make you keep trying to get to all the terminals and complete your mission, which I still have never been able to do without getting blown up (damn laser towers)!
|
Karnov
Neo-Rio says: Many people said that the C64 version of this game sucks, as it was a port from the Spectrum. I found this game to be incredibly playable and challenging when I got over how bad it looks.
|
Smurfen
Neo-Rio says: C64 rip-off of the old Atari game... playable but fondly remembered for the Michael Jackson "Billy Jean" SID music cover!
|
Paradroid
graveyardjohn says: How could we not include this?! Move from floor to floor, dispatching or taking over robots on the way. A combination of mild shooter and puzzler, this will keep you glued for ages.
