Hi,
I have installed GB 1.3 in D:\GameBase.
1. Would you recommend putting the folders of the various game bases in that folder or not?
2. What is the best way to view/modify a gamebase MDB? The current version of MS Access does not want to open them.
Fair warning: This will likely be the first of many posts of mine with questions!
Thanks!

it's reccomended to install gamebase at the root of the drive partition.
c:\gamebase, d:\gamebase
other files... GAMES, EXTRAS, MUSIC...
can be anywhere you have the HD space.
e:\roms\nintendo\nes
but personally, i would keep all gamebase files together.
to avoid unpack /rezip errors, do not install to folders with long names and spaces.
c:\retrojj gamebase collections\
the original gamebase MDB's are ACCESS97 format.
Access 2003 has an option to convert them to newer version.
this will allow you to open in a newer version and convert it again to latest Access version.
Re: Noobie questions
ALL core gamebase setup and MDB files MUST be in the install location folder.

If you wish to edit the mdb in newer Access, you need to update and convert the mdb file.2. What is the best way to view/modify a gamebase MDB?

Re: Noobie questions
I also have a couple:
- is it possible to somehow export/transfer favourites from old version to a newer one? Eg from Speccymania V4 to v5?
-how do you remove a Favourite? I can set it with Ctrl+12 or mouse, but can it be reversed?
Thanks in advance...

*** if the NEW mdb has had an entry delted between versions...
Favourite results will be wrong from that deleted entry game ID.
untick the favorite box.
Re: Noobie questions
Yes, by copying the "FAV" column in the MDB using Access, from old to new version.

Right click on game entry and select Personal Info (CTRL+F3)-how do you remove a Favourite? I can set it with Ctrl+12 or mouse, but can it be reversed?
untick the favorite box.
